CGC Prep (Beginners Obedience)
Class Description:
Students are introduced to basic obedience commands such as heeling, sit, down, stay, recall (come), leave it and more. While the skills taught in this class are similar to those taught in Family Dog 1, Beginners Obedience introduces a bit more precision and formality. Emphasis is on skills required to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test. (CGC). Students learn how to solve behavior problems, develop a means of communication between themselves and their dog and form a bond of mutual respect with their dogs.
Pre-requisites:
Dogs must be at least 7 months of age prior to start of first class. They must have completed Family Dog 1 and be confortable working a group class setting. Proof of shots DAPP and Rabies are required to attend class. Bring proof of shots 1st week of class. We recommend all dogs have Bordetella vaccine (Kennel Cough).
Class Location:
Lafayette Community Center (LCC) -- 500 St. Mary’s Rd, Lafayette.
Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) - 2890 Mitchell Dr, Walnut Creek
Minimum/Maximum Number of Students:
The minimum and maximum number of students at each class is determined by the location and the class format. Classes will be cancelled if the minimum number of students is not met.
Registration:
LCC registration is through the City of Lafayette Recreation Website. In order to register, you must first create an account.
ARF Registration is via MDDTC paper Registration Form which must be mailed to the address indicated on the form.
