Puppy Head Start

Class Description:

This class is for the new puppy owner and experienced dog owners alike. The class format is a short lecture followed by floor work with your puppy. Topics include: housebreaking, basic manners, first aid, nutrition, grooming, introductory obedience (hands-on). AKC Star Puppy Certification is awarded at the conclusion of class provided dog and handler attend a minimum of 6 of 7 classes and complete all 20 Star Puppy behaviors over the course of the session. During Puppy Head Start classes, puppies learn to be happy, well-adjusted members of their family as they begin to trust and respect their owner’s guidance. Students are taught how to ask their puppies to perform desired behaviors and puppies will learn how to respond. Students learn about the fundamentals of dog care while their puppies learn basic obedience behaviors like sit, down, stand and come all in a fun, supportive setting.

Pre-requisites:

Dogs must be at least 10 weeks of age up to 20 weeks of age prior to start of first class.
Proof of age appropriate shots DAPP and Rabies (if over 16 weeks) are required to attend class. We recommend all dogs have Bordetella vaccine (Kennel Cough).

Minimum/Maximum Number of Students:

The minimum and maximum number of students at each class is determined by the location and the class format. Classes will be cancelled if the minimum number of students is not met.

Registration:

Registration is via MDDTC paper Registration Form which must be mailed to the address indicated on the form.
